Updated February 2026

Dear George Elliot families,

My name is Rob Aviani, and I am proud to be the new principal of École George Elliot Secondary School. George Elliot is an amazing school community. We have wonderful students, a dedicated staff, and very supportive families. I am grateful to be able to serve as principal of this school.

I am also grateful to have the opportunity to continue to serve Lake Country students and their families. Being able to work at the elementary, middle, and secondary level in the same community is a special experience. It's a privilege for me to work here.

I am glad to work with our tremendous vice principals, Jennifer Hall and Colin Mayer. Together, we are working hard with staff and students to ensure a smooth second semester. We also are starting course selection and planning for the upcoming school year, which includes welcoming a new batch of grade 9 students from the local middle school. We are looking for more effective ways of engaging families in their child’s learning, and we are working with our community partners to coordinate volunteer opportunities for our students.

At the end of this school year, we will celebrate the George Elliot Grad Class of 2026. Many thanks to the staff, parents, and students who will help make this event such a memorable celebration.

Our staff has shaped a Love, Learn, Thrive vision for every student at École George Elliot. We believe that everyone student and adult in our school should feel loved, connected, valued, safe, and empowered. We believe learning must be personal, engaging, relevant, and lifelong. And we believe that helping each learner thrive means honouring their individual journey, including their physical, social, emotional, and personal well‑being. In addition, we look forward to continuing our commitment to recognize and celebrate the cultures and contributions of the Indigenous Peoples of Canada.

We thank our wonderful Parent Advisory Council (PAC) for guiding us this school year. The PAC's work is instrumental in making a wide variety of learning opportunities available to our students. We thank PAC president Craig Catton and the rest of our PAC executive for their tireless work towards these efforts. We encourage all parents to learn more about the PAC by visiting the PAC section of our school's website.

Our school updates families through our weekly email newsletter. We encourage families to stay informed. If you would ever like to connect with me, please do not hesitate to reach out by email or phone.

All the best,

Rob Aviani
